su blackwell

In a word. Wow.

Just wanted to share these exquisite paper sculptures by Su Blackwell. Beautifully delicate and perfect for this time of year, they depict scenes mostly from fairy tales and folklore. The two images below are entitled Out of Narnia and The Wild Swans.

print and pattern blog

Very excited to be on the Print and Pattern blog today which is one of my faves. It was actually a post about online shop 'Your Indies' but I was very pleased to be picked out as a favourite! I have doctored the image below to highlight the images of mine which were featured but you can see the full post here along with loads of other inspiring stuff...

booti-ful!

Just had a little browse through my favourited items on Folksy and I seem to have a worrying amount of baby booties in there. What is going on?? I just can't seem to help myself, they are so adorable. If you know anyone who's expecting then I can only suggest you get yourself over to one of these clever makers and grab a handmade gift - so much nicer don't you think?

digital fire

This reminds me of some friends who moved into a new house one winter and didn't have an open fire. The lady of the house said "all I want for Christmas is a roaring fire". The gentleman of the house did his best and bought her a DVD of flickering flames which they could sit and watch whilst sipping on a glass (or two) of port. (You know who you are).

Things have moved on since then, you can get this iPad stand made from a log from here.

The friends, however, now have a real fire with the added benefit of producing real heat!

invites

I recently created some personalised invites for a Bond themed party. The customers were both girls (yes, you are still a girl at 40 in my book) so they didn't want anything too macho.

Everyone was super pleased with the results. Now, where did I put that white bikini....

a winter woodland

I'm very pleased to announce that my Winter Woodland cards are now for sale in my folksy shop. I'm really pleased with finished results!

card gift packs

I've just listed these new card designs in my folksy shop. A gift pack would make a lovely Christmas present - I would say that though!

woodland creatures

Phew! September has flown by, we're almost half way through October and everyone's talking about Christmas. My biggest and smallest boys are settled back into school and I've been busy with various projects so not much time for blogging but... at last, something I can share.

So excited that these woodland critters have been whisked off to the printer today!

They will make great Christmas cards as well as useful notelets and thank yous for after the festive season.

sailing

I recently went to watch my youngest son learn the basics of sailing. I don't know who was more nervous as he launched from the slipway out into the bay – him or me. The wind was quite fresh, obviously good for sailing, but it meant he was soon a tiny speck in the distance.

"Please don't capsize." I thought.

Took the time to do a spot of sketching to take my mind off it.

French France

As I'm catching up with my creative self and working on some new designs now that the smaller members of the family have gone back to school, I thought I'd share a few pictures from our trip to France this summer. Some fantastic views of Dinan and mussels on the beach. Brittany is positively over flowing with moules - yum!

Guernsey stamps

Guernsey Stamps have released this set of stamps to celebrate the novel 'Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society'. Beautiful illustrations but unfortunately I don't know who the artist is. My fave is top right, the lady in a red cloak looking towards St Peter Port.

little green island

Took some cards and prints down to this great little shop today on the west coast of Guernsey - Little Green Island. It's such a gorgeous place bursting with wonderful stuff made by local makers and artists from painted furniture to hand made soap.

prints available in the folksy shop!

Jut listed this Hedgerow print in my Folksy shop and a couple of naughty seagulls too.

stitched paper

I've been wanting to have a go at stitching paper for a long time so finally got out some old scraps and used envelopes (which are usually printed in gorgeous shades of blue - always a bonus) and had a go. After a bit of trial and error I was pretty pleased with the results. I actually loved the wibbly lines which gave the finished pieces much more character. I might have another go at this!
