progress

Finally the sun shone at the weekend and I took the cow out for a spot of sunbathing in the garden. Then before she knew what was happening she had a roller around her sensitive parts and the painting (and fun) began. Can't give too much away but obviously she has areas of blue!

new member of family

Something rather larger has arrived chez moi. It was all very exciting and after a rather frenzied unwrapping ceremony she was revealed in all her glory. Ain't she a beaut?!

I've volunteered to decorate her as part of this summer's Guernsey Cow Parade which involves 52 decorated cows being displayed around the island. There's going to be a map of where they all are so you can follow the trail and at the end of the summer they will be auctioned off to raise money for The Guernsey Adult Literacy Project.

more origami

Well the Easter hols are nearly over and much time has been spent folding paper - by the biggest boy of the household, not me. I have spent much time picking up paper snails, grasshoppers, bowls, baskets, chickens, you name it really! This morning I asked if he could make me some little birds to sit on a a twig of blackthorn(?) - not sure what it is really. No sooner said than done, I was still having my mug of tea in bed when this little lot appeared... gorgeous!

Here's another of his creations - an eagle.

good friday walk

Went for the most breathtaking walk today after eating  far too many hot cross buns. The tide was so low we could walk across two bays with only a small amount of rock climbing. We then ascended the cliff by a so called 'fisherman's path' which was practically vertical in places. Rewarded by this stunning view, then home for just one more slither of hot cross bun!

Happy Easter!

guernsey hedgerows

The hedgerows are coming alive here in Guernsey so I've been out and about walking the lanes and cliffs paths gathering some inspiration and new reference for an up and coming project. Spent a lovely sunny afternoon yesterday with the watercolours out sketching up campion and cow parsley - lovely!

origami

My son loves origami and is forever trying out various creations from insects to birds. We have a long overdue book from the library that just never seems to get taken back!

Here's a picture of his parrot, it's the one that sits on my desk making sure I get my work done!

Then today I just came across this origami master, Dinh Truong Giang whilst perusing the interweb. Check out his awesomeness! Something for every little boy (or girl) to work towards... Absolutely adorable.

chair project

I've had this old chair for some time now. It's been living in the garage over the winter and it's just been too cold to even think about giving it a new lease of life. But now that Spring has (almost) sprung I feel inspired to breath new life in to it. I've already chosen the paint, a kind of turquoise colour and now my thoughts have turned to fabric. I'm thinking something graphic and really like this fabric by Skinny Laminx.

new look website

Although I haven't blogged for a while, rest assured things are happening. One of said things is re-vamping my website. As I usually ask my nerdy OH to make any changes for me, sometimes I have to wait until he has a bit of time on his hands (which isn't often). So here it is, my revamped website. Hopefully a bit clearer generally and with images of my currently available prints.

I also quickly put together a card for my Mum as I have a busy week ahead so I know I'll get no time next week.

I was very excited today to discover that I won a Dots and Spots mug in a giveaway run by Becky, the talent behind Dots and Spots. Here's a picture of my prize. - can't wait to receive it!

There are loads of other designs to choose from and Becky will be selling them on her website.

Old Quarter

Have just finished another illustration of the Old Quarter in St Peter Port. It's a beautiful part of the town with antique shops and an 'arty' feel. None of the big name shops that you would find on every high street in most large towns. Cars are restricted and 'street parties' are often held with stalls and activities for all the family.

Handmade Love

A collection of beautiful Folksy items for the theme of 'Handmade Love' using a colour palette of red and teal - gorgeousness!

new guernsey illustrations

I've been working on some new illustrations of Guernsey to kick start the year. The first is of St Peter Port harbour and the second is of Fort Grey, sometimes known locally as the cup and saucer. I've spent many a summer eve on the beach overlooking the cup and saucer enjoying a BBQ and watching the sun go down. Aah, roll on summer.

goodbye 2011

OK, ok I know we're soo over Christmas and it feels like ancient history but I'd like to share a few images before I press on with 2012 and all the good things it will (hopefully) bring.

I just love this guy taking part in the Boxing Day swim. It was such a beautiful day, the sun was shining and so many people took part.

Me, you say? Well, maybe next year. Actually, it'll be this year won't it!

Happy New Year to all!
